Dog Obedience Training in Western PA
After becoming an instructor with an all-breed club in 1993, our owner, Andrea Boyd, realized that positive-style training methods combined with people-friendly instruction should be the foundation of dog training. She realized that this style of dog obedience training in Stoneboro, PA, would help solve and prevent problems that so often resulted in dogs losing their happy homes.
Andrea started ABC Puppy School in March of 1996 with the goal of keeping dogs and their owners together happily. Our school was the first (between Pittsburgh and Erie) to offer Puppy Kindergarten classes for dogs under five months old. We soon added Beginning Manners classes for dogs of all ages. Our oldest dog student was 12 years old. Additionally, we began offering AKC™ Canine Good Citizen™ tests.
In 2005, Andrea began therapy dog training and mentoring visits. Her own therapy dog, Tim, passed away in 2000 after many years of service. She sees this as a valuable service to the community and wants to share it with you.
Later in 2005, we added the Beyond Basics class for owners who wanted to continue to train their dog's core skills, teach them additional tricks and games, and have social contact with other friendly dogs and their owners. We offer a Doggie Dancing class twice a month, which is a favorite activity of many clients.
Success Stories
Many of the dogs who have gone through our Beyond Basics dog training program have volunteered to participate in numerous community activities through the years, including elementary school presentations, library programs, the Hermitage Holiday Light Up Parade, pet fairs, and National Make a Difference Day projects. They also visit Boy Scout™ and Girl Scout™ troops and retirement facilities.
Additionally, many of our dog students have qualified for the AKC Canine Good Citizen program. Some have even become members of therapy dog teams.

Because of our quality dog training services, we receive a lot of repeat business and references. Our customers frequently say that we are patient and people and pet-friendly. We are not trying to be everything for everybody, though we always go the extra mile to give our customers more than what they pay for.
